Nervous

For the last 5 or 6 months I have been preparing for a major event in my life. As the months have past I have continually thought about (ok...obsessed) going to my 20 year class reunion. I know, I know, it is hard to believe, but it is very true. I have been out of school for 20 years. Now in this elapsing time frame I have also thought about all the things I need to do before I go to the reunion. Some of you might ask, what is there to "do" before, but if you know me even a little bit you know that I have written out lists of things to do...ie...lose weight (That is the biggest (no pun intended) and highest of priorities on the list.) what to wear, to lose weight, how to wear my hair, lose weight, get a mani and pedi, lose weight, and the list goes on from there. Because of the circumstances in my teen years due to a tramatic move, I had the option of going to not only one reunion but two. However, I chose not to attend the reunion in Alamosa where I actually graduated. I didn't like nor did they like me and I felt no desire what so ever to attend. There were only a couple of people I even considered seeing if I did go. But I didn't!
HOWEVER
My reunion in Granby is this coming weekend July 31/Aug 1 and I am so freakin nervous! I seriously have lost sleep for the last 6 or 7 nights and to top it all off I have had the mother of all migraines for 5, yes 5 days straight. My stomach hurts, my head hurts and all this for a couple of days with friends I haven't seen in 22 years. I even had my friends from Monticello and Colorado Springs as well as my brother and daughter help me pick out to wear. Why should I care, it is only Granby "for cryin in the beer cheese soup!!" I, and don't laugh when you read this, have even had to talk to my psychiatrist about this. TWICE!!
So what the heck, why am I so nervous?
Because...I have no idea!!

The Best Prom Date Ever!

Ok, enough about Shyanne, heheehee! I got to go to prom for the second year in a row! As most of you know, Steven has lived with us for 14 years. 3 years ago an area church decided to have a "prom" for the people in Mesa county that are disabled and or handicapped. We, Steven and I, did not know about it the first year, but found out about it last year and decided to go. Steven purchased a high end suit and accesories and I now had a reason to purchase a prom dress. I love prom dresses! Anyway, we went again this year and again had a blast. It was so amazing to see all these people dressed to the nines and party their boodies off. I am hooked. And thanks to Steven for asking me to be his "Date". (I probably would have gone anyway!) But none the less he is the best prom date anyone could ask for.
The purple dress is the first year. Then I had buy a new one for this year! No wonder my daughter acts the way she does. LOL

Star Crossed Lovers

As stated below Shyanne was invited to the Monticello Prom by Farrell Doucet. I'm so glad that they are friends. They had a great weekend, and so did I since I got to go see my best friend Lora. Farrell had a ton of stuff planned the only problem was that their prom was on a Friday night. So, they hung out for awhile, then I did Shyanne's hair, then they went to dinner. They then went to the prom, as well as Lora, Dayne, Chase and I. They still have a tradition that the Junior class does the "Promonade". This year was no different and Farrell happened to be in it this year. So I think everyone and their brother (and sister, aunt, uncle, cousin, grandparents) for each kid was there. We even had to pay the ticket price to go in for 30 min. 10 freekin dollars per person. That sucked!
Anyway, it was fabulous. The kids danced to Taylor Swift's "Love Song" and it made me cry. It was decorated sooo nicely. The best I think I have ever seen as far a High School proms go. We adults left and were hanging out when Shyanne and Farrell walked in the door like 30 min later. They were done with the dance. So they went out to the studio and watched a movie. Chase got home later than they did and he didn't even have a date! They had a great time and had fun the rest of the weekend. By the way, she did get a new prom dress!

When did Prom dresses become $300?

When I started High School, my mom told me that if I got asked to Homecoming and Prom that I could go.( Even though I was not 16 yet.) I did get asked for both. Shyanne on the other hand didn't get asked to go to Homecoming as a freshman but wanted to go anyway. Kids these days don't "have to have" a date to go to the dances. So we went to David's Bridal and found two incredible dresses on the clearance rack. Both were 30 dollars. What a deal. Two dresses for the low cost of 60 bucks...We were set. (at least for Homecoming and Winterfest) When Winterfest was coming, Shyanne decided she would ask someone instead and the boy she asked was my best friends oldest son Farrell. He said yes and that was set. Unfortunately they didn't stay long due to the inappropriate dresses and dancing that was going on there. So they came home and Lora and I sent them to see a movie. They had a good time together. But then to our suprise Farrell asked her to go to prom with him in Monticello Ut. Of course we said yes. So Shyanne automatically assumed that she would be getting a new prom dress. She ABSOLUTELY COULD NOT wear one of the other dresses she already had. That would be horrifying. So back to David's Bridal we go hoping to find another "great deal". However that was not the case and she of course picked the dress that was $300 big ones. I about pooped. So....what to do?? There will be no new dress from David's Bridal much to Shyanne's disappointment. So do we go with the blue dress or the black and white one?? Or do we go to Herbergers and find one there??? I guess the search continues.

What to do?

It seems like yesterday that my daughter was a baby. Now at almost 15 I have realized I only have 3 years left. She fully intends on going to college somewhere other than Mesa State. Dad has made it quite clear that she will be going to Mesa at least 2 years and then she might be able to move on. ( I think it is way of hanging on just a little longer.) I see all my friends and family with young kids and I think about all that I have gone through and all that I miss. True Logan is only 9 1/2, but he hasn't been little in a long time. I'm trying to figure out what I am going to blog about. No cute little kids to talk about. No funny things they have done. Unless I back track and start all over. All that is scrapbooked yet I'm the only one who usually sees it. (unless some poor soul comes to visit) And since my sisters are the only ones who read this they have already heard about or participated in most everything anyway....What to do?!

Mexican Vacation

So I think my first blog should start with the first vacation Todd and I were able to take alone. EVER. (We didn't get a honeymoon) We finally said the heck with it and went to Tulum Mexico. We left Dec.3 and came home Dec. 10 2008. It was about time. Especially after 18 years of being together. It was the most amazing experience of my life. (outside of getting married and giving birth) We were able to tour the ruins of Chitza Itsa, Nohoc Mul and Tulum. We swam in cenotes so clear you could see 50 ft. We repelled, zip lined, kayaked, and ate authentic Mayan food. But the best was snorkeling. Holy Crap that was the the coolest thing I have ever done!! I could do that for the rest of my life. What an unbelievable experience! This picture was taken on the beach at the resort we stayed at. It was the last day we were there. The wind was blowing and the sky was cloudy. But this picture turned out amazing. I love Todd sooo much! Thanks babe, for taking my breath away.
